US Archbishop Defends Mosque as Muslims' "God-Given Right"

Pro-homosexual Archbishop John C. Wester of Santa Fe, New Mexico, defended "our Muslim neighbors' right to worship" in a July 27 statement.
He had heard in recent weeks concerns from some residents regarding the proposal to build a mosque and community center in Albuquerque's North Valley.
"Our Muslim neighbors have the same God-given and constitutionally protected right to worship freely as every other faith community, including our own. Defending that right is not only a civic duty but a core element of Catholic teaching", the Archbishop wrote.
According to Monsignor Wester, supporting the construction of a mosque is entirely consistent with Catholic tradition and moral commitments. He urged Catholics to "choose respect, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence."
In 2025, it emerged that, Archbishop Wester promoted and lived with a priest who had spent ten years in a registered homosexual relationship.

150-Page Dossier at the Heart of the Rupnik Case: PerMariam.com has published a timeline of the Marko Rupnik case. One detail stands out: the Jesuits compiled a 150-page dossier documenting alleged abuse by Fr. Marko Rupnik between 1985 and 2018. According to his former Jesuit superior, the credibility of these reported events is "very high."

Timeline: Rupnik case from December 2022 until now

VATICAN CITY (PerMariam) — With the Marko Rupnik case making a return to the headlines this week, after many months of silence – even years – since any substantive update, it is perhaps useful to recall the timeline of the affair. On Monday, Messa in Latino (MiL) wrote that reliable Vatican sources had informed them that Rupnik would soon be acquitted in his trial. This is the trial which apparently began in October 2025, after the Vatican re-opened an investigation into Rupnik in October 2023. Even though coverage of the report was limited enough, the Vatican obviously perceived that this represented too much of a PR threat and thus issued a denial some 48-hours later. “The review of the case is still ongoing, and the panel is examining documentation provided by the dioceses involved, the Jesuits, the parties concerned, and from the press,” the Vatican press office stated. {For full details of said update, see a report by this correspondent} In allegations which became public in late …

Depressive Former Medjugorje Believer Arrested for Vandalizing the Shrine

A 31-year-old Polish man, identified by regional media as Bartłomiej Włodzimierz Krakowiak, has been arrested for vandalizing the Marian shrine of Medjugorje during the night of 27–28 July, just days before Mladifest, which is expected to attract around 50,000 young pilgrims.
"Medjugorje Is a Deception"
The suspect allegedly poured black paint over statues of the Virgin Mary on Apparition Hill and at the Blue Cross, wrote "Devil in a skirt" on one statue. He hung banners accusing the six visionaries of being "frauds - I have proof", spray-painted slogans including "Medjugorje is a deception," "Only Jesus," and "Mary = devil," and set fire to the recently renovated outdoor altar behind St. James Church.
He was arrested hours later in Černo, near Ljubuški, heading toward the Croatian border.
Former Pilgrim
The case is particularly striking because the suspect had previously visited Medjugorje as a pilgrim. Regional media report that in 2017 he walked 1,300 km from Warsaw to the shrine, …Kara

Hugh O’Reilly: King Stephan of Hungary’s Admonitions to His Son Emeric

When Atilla the Hun stormed Italy in the year 452, he was met by the Sovereign Pontiff Pope Leo the Great. The Hungarian chronicles record that the warrior received from Heaven the following message: "Hearken to the command of the Lord God, Jesus Christ. Thy pride shall not allow you to enter into the holy city where the bodies of my Apostles lie. Return. Later, one of your descendents will come to Rome with humility, and there I will cause him to receive a crown that shall last forever."
King Stephen of Hungary fulfilled the promise God made to Atilla
Attila thereupon recrossed the Alps, and had only just time to reach the Danube before he died. But, in the days of St. Stephen the heavenly promise was fulfilled.
Indeed, Stephen inherited from his father Géza the dukedom of Hungary that had only a sprinkling of Catholics among the wild Magyars. He left it as a kingdom recognized by the Pope Sylvester II and a people firmly established in the Holy Faith.
He made two Codes of Law, in which …Kara

Pilgrims Celebrate Outdoor Dawn Mass Instead of Basilica Liturgy at Covadonga: At dawn today, pilgrims of the sixth Our Lady of Christendom Pilgrimage in Spain celebrated a traditional outdoor Mass at their campsite in Sevares, Asturias. The Mass was not allowed in the Basilica of Covadonga. After Mass, the pilgrims continued on foot to Covadonga, where they concluded with prayer and the singing of the Te Deum before the Blessed Sacrament. The three-day pilgrimage, held from 25–27 July, covered nearly 100 kilometers from Oviedo to Covadonga and drew more than 1,700 participants.

Vatican Opens Synod Evaluation to Other Religions

The Vatican has published new guidelines today, "Recollecting: Accompanying the Preparation of the Local Church's Evaluation Assembly," for the next stage of the Synod on Synodality.
Every diocese is required to hold evaluation assemblies during the first half of 2027 to assess how the Synod's Final Document has been implemented.
Bishops will lead the evaluation, establish or reactivate synodal teams, and approve a six- to eight-page narrative report to be submitted to Rome.
They are also instructed to describe "transformations in decision-making processes, and reforms of structures" as part of their narrative report.
Interreligious synodality
Each diocese will also hold an evaluation assembly using the method of "conversation in the Spirit."
The guidelines state that dioceses should consider inviting "representatives of other Christian Churches and communities or other religions as observers."

Archbishop Gänswein Attacks German Synod - But Backs Its New Chairman

That under Pope Francis "certain difficulties and troubles became evident" is "undeniable." So said Archbishop Georg Gänswein, who turns 70 on Thursday, in an interview published by Katholisch.de on July 27.
Monsignor Gänswein believes Leo XIV recognizes these problems and is addressing them.
In Germany, the chief concern of Monsignor Gänswein remains the "Synodal Way": "The tensions surrounding the Synodal Way and various initiatives that break away from the Catholic faith continue to exist and await a final resolution. For many Catholics in Germany who simply want to live their faith, this is a millstone around their neck."
Contradicting his own criticism, however, Archbishop Gänswein said he has "a good impression" of the new president of the German bishops' conference, Bishop Heiner Wilmer of Münster. He is a leading supporter of and affirmative voter for the German Synodal Way.

Wonder what does he apply to that horrible chafing he suffers from, sitting on the fence.

Cornelio Nino Morales

“My concern centres on that unwieldy term, the ‘Synodal Path’,” Archbishop Gänswein said. “Fruitless debates about structures and similar issues tie up vital energy in the wrong areas.”

Leo XIV Returned to the Vatican: Leo XIV returned to the Vatican on Monday evening after a three-week summer holiday at Castel Gandolfo. His upcoming schedule includes Assisi (August 6), San Marino and Rimini (August 22), an apostolic journey to France (September 25–28) with visits to Paris, Lourdes, Metz and UNESCO headquarters, and the World Meeting on the implementation of Amoris laetitia at the Vatican (October 7–14). A visit to Peru is expected in November, although the Holy See has not yet officially announced it.

Pope Leo XIV concludes his summer vacation in Castel Gandolfo and has returned to the Vatican.

Bishop Defends Nude 🌈 Photo Shoot Outside Cathedral

Around 500 nude volunteers gathered outside the Cathedral of Santa Ana in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, on Sunday for a photographic installation by American artist Spencer Tunick as part of the Culture & Business Pride festival.
Participants, painted in the rainbow colors, posed in front of the cathedral on the feast of St. Anne, the city's patron saint.
The project was planned in advance as an official festival event, with backing from local tourism and government bodies. Organizers said the artwork celebrated diversity and homosexuality.
According to El País, the local bishop, Monsignor José Mazuelos, said he did not object to the nude performance in front of his cathedral: "I have no problem. When we go to the beach, we see naked bodies, don't we?" His complaint was instead about access restrictions that temporarily delayed clergy and parishioners attending the 10 a.m. Eucharist.
He also described the event as "marketing for the city," adding he supported it insofar as it promoted …Kara
