Rev. John Hunwicke, an Oxford scholar, linguist, and former Anglican parson who became a Catholic priest in 2012 for the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, died on April 30, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Since 2022, his ill health and heart made it difficult for him to walk and breathe. He was a highly learned, truly listening and kind man who showed deep respect even for his theological enemies. In his spare time, he could be found reading the classics and Latin and Greek poetry.
For thirty years, he taught Latin and Greek. He described himself as stern teacher but he was also humorous and entertaining. Rev. Hunwicke used his erudition to defend the Roman Rite. Before the failed Novus Ordo was introduced, Hunwicke learned the Roman Rite when he still was an Anglican seminarian at St Stephen's House in Oxford.

An altar server at San Dominic Savio Parish, Archdiocese of Bogotá, Colombia, observed in April during Communion that a woman was taking the host with her hands, bringing it back to the pews and sharing it with her pet which was with her in the church.
At least the dog didn't take the communion with his paw. In his sermon on 28 April (video below), the parish priest, Reverend Laureano Barón, called it a "sacrilege" and urged the anonymous woman to go to confession with the bishop, who alone can absolve this "grave" sin in confession.
Rev. Barón has nothing against it when the faithful take communion with their hand, but they should put it into their mouth in front of the priest. He also mentioned a mother who took a piece of her host and gave it to her little boy, who had asked for it "to know what it tastes like". Robin Ward, an Anglican author, lay priest and Rector of St Stephen's House, Oxford, published on Twitter.com (2 May) a picture of a woman dressed as a "deacon" distributing communion at an Orthodox service in Zimbabwe.
The church, whose location is unclear, is said to belong to the tiny Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa under Greek-born Theodore II (Nikolaos Khoreftakis), who also likes to call himself "Pope".
The Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria introduced deaconesses in November 2016 under the pretext of reviving an "ancient practice" that in reality never existed. Much less is it an "ancient practice" for a deacon, not even a validly ordained one, to distribute Holy Communion.
The Orthodox are self-governing churches. So everyone does what they want. This is why many Orthodox groups are at odds with each other.

Nearly twenty scholars have written a statement on 2 May summarising the "crimes and heresies" of Francis.
Among the signatories is a cleric, Rev. Linus Clovis. They call on Francis "to resign from the papal office".
The lengthy 18-page text lists Francis' "crimes", including a long list of cases where Francis protected homosexual abusers and then lied about doing so ("sabotage of justice"). It also lists Francis' heresies, and analyses his roots and their consequences regarding Francis' tenure.

A friend of LepantoIn.org contacted the Archdiocese of Chicago regarding a blasphemous [pseudo] "blessing" of two lesbians at St Vincent de Paul Parish in Lincoln Park, Chicago.
The email criticised a 'public perversion' and was addressed to the archdiocese's Office of Canonical Affairs: 'This is nothing short of a public disgrace and the order of justice demands a firm response not only from your office but from the office of Cardinal Cupich,' the author of the email wrote.
The original complaint didn't mention the date of the incident. The response came from Rev. Daniel Andree, the Judical Vicar. He wrote that the email was "the first notice we have received of anything that took place on 22 April".

The challenge of the next conclave is that most of the cardinals do not know each other and not all speak Italian, Cardinal William Goh of Singapore told NcRegister.com (30 April).
Cardinal Goh says about himself he is an introvert with a pious childhood ("going to church before class to pray the rosary at the age of 7"). He comes from a "not very religious" family, except for his mother.

Rev. Joseph Williams, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul in Chicago, Illinois, officiated at a pseudo-marriage for two women in his church. They posted video footage on social media on 22 April and Rev. Williams confirmed that the video is real (OsvNews.com, 1 May).
One of the women, Kelli Beard, is a United Methodist minister. She will become an associate pastor at an Arizona church starting in July. The other, Myah Knight, is a mental health therapist who runs a 'religious trauma support group'.
Beard wore an off-the-shoulder champagne-coloured sequined dress, Knight a black suit with matching fedora and white tie. Rev Williams presided over an exchange of promises and blessed the two ladies.

On May 2, Francis received the leading representatives of the Anglican Communion including its president, Justin Welby, the lay archbishop of Canterbury.
Francis recalled the “many occasions” he has received his “dear brother Justin” and that they have commissioned a number of Catholic and Anglican bishops to serve together.
“We must not be afraid of disagreements, but embrace them, leaving the primacy [of the pope] to the Paraclete.”
And, “It is a gift for me to feel close to the [heretical] communities that you represent. I am aware that the role of the Bishop of Rome is still a controversial and divisive issue among Christians.”
Francis wishes for a dialogue on this subject that "leaves behind useless controversies" in order to understand “how the Petrine ministry can be developed as a service of love for all.”

Bishop Mueggenborg of Reno, Nevada, has removed Rev. Honesto Agustin from his duties as a parish priest after a nude video of him was posted online.
Mgr. Mueggenborg said on 30 April that a suspicious social media account, a duplicate account with Agustin's name and picture, recently posted a ten-second video of him undressed and alone in his home.
After being alerted to the video, the diocese hired an independent investigator who concluded that the video was real and not generated by AI. The diocese doesn't believe the priest has committed any crime.
A complaint has already been filed with law enforcement against the person who allegedly created the account and posted the video.

Sister Jeannine Gramick, a homosexual activist who belongs to the School Sisters of Notre Dame, wrote to Francis that the 8 April document "Dignitas Infinita" "harms" transvestites whom "I love".
Playing on emotions, she wrote to Francis of "my sadness" and "my disappointment".
Francis replied and Gramick published quotes from her correspondence with him on NewWaysMinistry.org (1 May).
He writes: "Gender ideology is something other than homosexuals or transsexuals. Gender ideology makes everyone equal without respect for personal history. I understand the concern about this paragraph in Dignitas Infinita, but it does not refer to transgender people, but to gender ideology, which nullifies differences. Transgender people must be accepted and integrated into society". What Francis means by "gender ideology" is clear only to himself.

On 30th April, Francis sent a letter to Drachma, a group of Maltese parents of homosexuals who promote homosexual sins.
Francis, who still hasn't reacted to the Dubia of the four cardinals, replied within seven days (!) to a letter from Drachma dated 23 Apri. The letter effusively flatters Francis but criticises the text of "Dignitas Infinita" for, among other things, condemning genital mutilation.
Although very sensitive to criticism, Bergoglio responded by pretending to receive their criticism with an "open heart" and praising the "very beautiful and good" work of Drachma.
NcrOnline.org obtained both letters, but didn't publish their full contents. The letter was hand-delivered to Francis by Andrea Conocchia, the parish priest of Torvaianica near Rome and supporter of male prostitutes in the area.

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who postponed his trip to Rome two weeks ago in the midst of the ongoing war on Gaza, took possession of Sant'Onofrio's, his titular church in Rome, on 1 May.
This church is home to the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre. It was packed. In his homily, the Cardinal said that people could not wait for the US to resolve the war in Gaza:
"These are difficult moments, but they are also moments of hope, because perhaps something is moving in the current negotiations, hopefully. We must never give up. In any case, the situation remains very dramatic, serious and difficult. In addition to the military problems, which exist and are serious, there is the humanitarian problem in Gaza."

Bishop José Ignacio Munilla of Orihuela-Alicante, Spain, called Joe Biden’s signing of the cross over himself at a pro-abortion rally a “desecration of the sign of the cross”. Munilla made the comment recently on Radio María España, reports NcRegister.com (April 29).

Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, of Kinshasa president of the African bishops' conferences, agrees with Cardinal Robert Sarah on Fiducia Supplicans, he said at a press conference in Nairobi on 25 April.
Cardinal Sarah explained last month that the document was the latest example of pushing for a "culture of relativism" rather than "the universality of the faith". The Church in Africa had been "ignored and scorned by those whose sole obsession is to please Western lobbies", he said.

A female clown danced in front of the Eucharistic table in the cathedral of Speyer, Germany, to celebrate or caricature a "Day of the Deaconess". The show was officially described as a "divine service".
The Imperial Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St Stephen in Speyer dates from the 11th century and is the world's largest surviving Romanesque church and building.
The clown show was led by six women and a female clown and was organised by [former] Catholic associations in Germany, several [former] Catholic women's associations and the Central Committee of German "Catholics" (ZdK), a powerful lay body and leading promoter of decadence in the German Church.
The focus of the show was to push for [invalidly ordained] deaconesses. A 'Day of the Deaconess' has been celebrated by German dioceses since 1998.

Monsignor Salvador Rangel Mendoza, 78, the former bishop of Chilpancingo-Chilapa, whose whereabouts had been unknown since 27 April, has been found, the Mexican Bishops' Conference announced on 29 April.
Rangel Mendoza was discovered in a hospital in the city of Cuernavaca on the afternoon of 29 April. No details were given as to how he arrived there.
The Bishops' Conference promised additional information on his state of health and the circumstances of his disappearance as soon as it becomes available.
According to local media, Rangel Mendoza was last seen in Jiutepec. Jiutepec and Cuernavaca are two different cities in the Mexican state of Morelos, however, in recent decades, Jiutepec has merged with neighbouring Cuernavaca, the capital of the state of Morelos.

A New York state appeals court ruled on 23 April that an insurance company for the Archdiocese of New York doesn't have to pay to settle 1,500 mostly homosexual abuse claims.
The archdiocese called the ruling 'extremely disappointing' and 'wrong'. The five judges unanimously overturned a lower court's order from December 2023 that would have forced the insurer to pay.
The insurance group had issued more than 30 liability policies to the archdiocese and several of its parishes, schools and institutions between 1956 and 2003.
New laws enacted in 2019 (the Child Victims Act) and 2022 (the Adult Survivors Act) have opened the door to hundreds of previously time-barred claims. Some of the allegations date back to the 1930s (sic).
"If allowed to stand, the decision will allow insurance companies to evade the contractual obligations of the policies they issue," Joseph Zwilling, director of communications for the archdiocese, told OSVNews.com (27 April).
